Then maybe the whole concept of bodhisattva reincarnation is spiritual abuse to small children trying to live their own lives?

#1. I see your point. But - If you look at the poverty and hardships in both Tibet and India, perhaps a young bodhisattva has, if not a better, at least a chance to a good life.
