3 års fängelse för protest (artikel)

"Thru Phayul ..- By : Tenzin Monlan. DHARAMSHALA, August 2: A monk of Kirti Monastery in Ngaba County who was arrested in September last year after his solo protest has been sentenced to three years imprisonment. Jamphel Gyatso, 22, took to the main street of Ngaba town around 12 p.m. (local time) on September 9, 2015, holding high a portrait of the exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama while repeatedly shouting ‘free Tibet’ and ‘long live Dalai Lama’. The monk’s family members were not informed of the trial that was held behind closed doors. He was not allowed to be represented by a lawyer, sources said. “His family members learned about this (hearing) today (August 1)”, a source told RFA, adding that he was being held in a prison in Maowan Qiang County, 350kms from the Ngaba County. There is no information yet about his current health conditions or the exact charges under which he was convicted. His parents, Surya and Tarey Kyi, live in division 3 of Meruma Township. Jamphel Gyatso is the youngest of the two sons and a daughter of the family. His protest was the second solo protest within two days in the county in September, 2015. A day before Jamphel’s protest, Lobsang Kalsang, a 19-year old monk of the same monastery staged his protest in the main market of Ngaba holding a portrait of the Dalai Lama, reviled by Chinese government as a ‘splittist’." https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=748360638599669&substory_index=0&id=358337004268703
